This Could Change Everything by Jill Mansell @JillMansell @headlinpg

If only Essie hadn't written that letter - the one that went viral...
THIS COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING is the feel-good new novel from Jill Mansell, the bestselling author of MEET ME AT BEACHCOMBER BAY. Not to be missed by fans of Katie Fforde and Lucy Diamond.
On the one hand, if Essie hadn't written that letter - the one that only her best friend was meant to see - then she'd still be living like an actual proper grown-up, tucked up with Paul in his picture-perfect cottage, maybe even planning their wedding...
On the other hand (if her true feelings hadn't accidentally taken the internet by storm, that is) she wouldn't have moved into the attic flat on the square. She would never have met Conor. Or got to know Lucas...
And she wouldn't have found herself falling in love with someone she really, really shouldn't fall in love with...

This Could Change Everything by Jill Mansell was published by Headline on 25 January 2018, my thanks to the publisher who sent my copy for review.

Essie is settled. She's living with her boyfriend Paul, she has a job and all is going well. It's almost Christmas and Essie and her friend Scarlett are chuckling over a Round Robin letter sent by friends of Paul's family. Essie's decision to write her own version of the Christmas Round Robin seems like the funniest of jokes .... until the next morning, when she wakes up to find that the letter has been forwarded to everyone in her contacts list. Yes, everyone; including Paul's mother, and that is a very bad thing indeed.

Needless to say, Essie quickly finds herself looking for a new home and a new job. Zillah, meanwhile is the Queen of the Square. Elderly, outspoken and flamboyant, she's lived in Percival Square; one of the most elegant addresses in Bath for many years, and she's looking for a new tenant. Zillah and Essie hit it off at once, and when Essie gets work in the bar just across the square, she feels as though maybe things will be OK.

However, things don't always run smoothly and when Essie is finally introduced to Lucas, the owner of the bar, her heart sinks. How on earth can she work for and alongside him? He's the root of her problems, or so she thinks.

Jill Mansell returns with another wonderfully warm story, filled with colourful and loveable characters that really bring a cheer to the heart. Zillah and Essie are both wonderfully crafted characters. Zillah has a heart of gold in a tough shell. whilst Essie has a vulnerability to her that is so endearing.  Incorporated into life in the square are the stories of the patients of the local Hospice who Zillah grants wishes for. There are some incredibly touching and poignant moments within this story that bring a lump to the throat, yet are offset with humour and love which really makes this a quite magical read.

Filled with romance and kindness, This Could Change Everything is full of heart and fun and is a fabulously enjoyable read.
